Rob started playing tennis at the age of five. Throughout his junior years, Rob competed in Intermountain Division tennis tournaments, achieving great success. Rob started his career in tennis at Sun Valley Company at the age of 15, becoming their youngest full-time summer tennis instructor. He has been teaching professionally ever since. During his teaching experience Rob has co-instructed clinics and played in multiple exhibition matches with tennis professionals including Mats Wilander, Tom Gorman, Fred Stolle, and Tracy Austin. The experiences he has had with these professionals, as well as with other great tennis mentors, have greatly influenced his career and teaching style. Rob enjoys skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, alpine touring, mountain biking, hiking, golf, tennis, and rock climbing.
Jamie grew up in the Wood River Valley and took advantage of the many recreational activities in the area with a competitive focus on skiing, tennis, and soccer. He went on to play tennis at the University of Idaho where he studied Corporate Recreation. Jamie was selected to participate as a coach and athletic scout in Yugoslavia shortly after leaving college. When he returned to the Valley, he took a position with the City of Ketchum as the Recreation Supervisor, where he worked to develop and manage youth and adult athletic programs. During this time, he coached Idaho Junior Team Tennis, leading them to regionals. He has over 25 years of experience coaching and instructing tennis with both juniors and adults. He specializes in skills development to help individuals achieve their goals. Jamie is currently the assistant coach for the Wood River High School tennis team and has always had a passion for the active lifestyle.
George started his tennis career at the age of 4 on the red clay courts of South America. He climbed to the top of the junior ranks to become a Peruvian and South American Junior Champion. He has been ranked in the top 5 nationally in the United States Professional Tennis Association. George has gone through rigorous training and testing by the USPTA and has earned the high honor of “Elite Coach.” George has over 35 years of teaching and coaching experience. His dedication as “Junior Development Coach” has created an opportunity for many youngsters to achieve a high level of success in their rankings as well as creating incredible life experiences for them.
George’s accomplishments include: Head Coach of Zenergy’s Peak Performance Tennis Program, USPTA Nationally Certified Elite Coach and Certified Athletic Mental Training Coach.
Leo’s personal tennis achievements include: National ranking singles #2 1983 (Lima, Peru); National titles 14 & 16 division; represented Peru in South American championship (Santiago, Chile), Banana Bowl (Sao Paolo Brazil), Orange Bowl (USA), Inka Bowl (Lima, Peru) Juniors 14-16-18; Most Valuable Player at Lees Mcrae College 1987 (Banner Elk, North Carolina); Big Sky conference runner-up at #2 singles (Boise, Idaho). Leo additionally brings 22 years of coaching experience to Zenergy, including: November 2006, ITF Men’s Circuit (Ivan Miranda), September 2003, US OPEN (Ivan Miranda & Alexandre Simoni), Assistant tennis coach at Boise State University, 1990, Tennis pro at Sonesta Beach Hotel, 1992, and Assistant tennis coach at Sheraton Royal Biscayne, 1985
The son of former grand slam champion Mats Wilander, Karl grew up in the wood river valley playing at Zenergy with fellow pros Rob Kolb, George Maurtua, and Leo Miranda.
Karl was a highly ranked junior player in the state of Idaho and the intermountain region, consistently ranked in the top 3 in Idaho and in the top 20 in the intermountain.
Following a successful senior year at Wood river high school winning the Idaho High School state singles title, Karl went on to play tennis for Division 3 Tufts University in Massachusetts helping the team to maintain a national ranking consistently in the top 20 of Division 3 schools.
Personal Trainer Zack Taylor is an ACSM-Certified Personal Trainer who also has his B.S. in Exercise Science from Boise State University. Through his years of schooling, Zack gained experience in group fitness instruction, bodybuilding contest preparation for both men and women, as well as a bio-mechanical perspective on fitness that carries over into his personal training sessions.
In addition to personal training, Zack is also a Corrective Exercise Specialist for Zenergy Sports Rehab Clinic. He assists the Physical Therapists with gym related programs when a patient has progressed to a point where they need more resistance training.
Zack is also one of our tennis instructors. He played tennis at the collegiate level, participated in Men’s 4.5 level city league tennis and was the assistant coach for Bishop Kelly High school, 2014, and Wood River High School, 2017.
