What’s On Your Summer Fitness Bucket List?

With two months of summer left, there’s still time to make a bucket list of fitness-focused things that you want to accomplish before the leaves start to fall. At Zenergy, we love goals! Writing them down – and checking ‘em off one by one – will help boost your fitness and provide a great feeling of satisfaction. Here are eight ideas to add to your list to make it your most adventurous – and healthiest – summer ever!

RUN A RACE
Sign up for the annual Elephant’s Perch Backcountry Run coming up on Saturday, July 16 – with new 3- and 9.5-mile distances this year. For a list of other upcoming races in Idaho, click here

EXPLORE A NEW ROUTE
Grab a trail map and find a new trail to hike, run or mountain bike. Maps are available at local outdoor shops and the Sun Valley Visitors’ Center, or download one here
On Thursday, July 21, join Zenergy Health and Wellness Coordinator Yvette Hubbard for a group hike to Baker Lake (4-mile roundtrip with 45 minutes of driving each way). Meet in the Zenergy lobby at 7am or at the trailhead at 8:30am. Free and open to the community.

DO A WATER WORKOUT
Hit the Zenergy pool for a refreshing change of pace. If swimming laps alone doesn’t appeal, try Deep Water Hyrofit, a cardio, strength and core class using buoyancy and resistance equipment – offered Monday through Friday, 11-11:55am, and Saturdays 10-10:55am. Or, join our Masters Swim program (10 weekly sessions, Monday through Friday) with Ed Flory.

BIKE TO WORK
Forget summer traffic! Ditch the car and pedal to your office (or favorite yoga class).

RIDE WITH A GROUP
Join Joel Brazil on Mondays at noon for an easy, all-levels road ride and learn the basics of riding with a group. If you can cruise to the Valley Club and back, you can hack it! Meet at the Zenergy front door. Free and open to the community.

GO STAND-UP PADDLEBOARDING
Don’t be the last one to get hooked on this killer, low-impact, total-body workout! Rent a board at Backwoods Mountain Sports (208-726-8818) or Redfish Lake Lodge (208-744-3536). Sawtooth Adventure Company (208-774-4644) also offers river and flat-water SUP rentals in the Stanley area. (READ Get in Shape for Stand-Up Paddleboarding on the Zenergy Blog).

CLIMB BALDY
When you get to the top, be sure to take a photo and post it to our Zenergy Facebook page.

TRAIN WITH A PRO
Get more effecitve workouts with help from a certified trainer! Sign up for customized small group training with a few close friends. Or, try Masters Weight Training for Men with Tim (Thursdays, 11-11:55am, through July 28). Or, let Yvette show you the ropes in Masters Weight Training for Women (Wednesdays, 8-8:55am, through July 27).
