#FuelHappiness Week 6: Kindness Matters

Welcome to Week 6 of our #FuelHappiness Holiday Challenge with lululemon athletica. For this week's happiness practice, we have two simple words: KINDNESS MATTERS

As they say, a little bit of kindness goes a long way. Selfless acts of giving–be it a smile, gracious words, or an offer of help–not only make others feel good. They benefit us as well! When we do something nice for another person, we enhance our own mood and feelings of well-being. What goes around comes around!

Kindness also is key to healthy relationships. In marriages, for example, a pattern of showing appreciation and expressing gratitude out loud is linked to greater satisfaction. We should never wait passively for our partners or close friends to do or say something nice or right a wrong. Kindness really does breed kindness.

CREATE A MINDSET
Practice a philosophy of kindness and you will retrain your brain and alter your mind, making for a better relationship with yourself as well as with others. This is sure to bring greater happiness and joy into your life.

MAKE IT A HABIT
Practice at least one (or preferably more!) act of kindness every day, and you'll be on your way to creating a new habit. Make a list of your kind acts as a reminder of the good that you're doing and inspire yourself to keep at it.

BE KIND TO YOURSELF
You deserve your own kindness and compassion as much as anyone else. So drop the negative inner dialogue and be more forgiving.

Think kind thoughts, say kind words, take kind actions. These three steps will bring more to you–and the people around you–than you can possibly imagine. By showing more kindness, we can help make the world a better place. Even something as small as smiling and saying hello can make a big difference in someone's day–and ours as well.
