Summer running season is upon us! This year, inspire yourself to set new goals and get even more fit by running a 5K, 10K or half marathon.
Here’s our summer 2017 guide to foot races in and around the Wood River Valley:
Kick off the holiday weekend with the Redfish Lake Lodge Memorial Run (half marathon, 10K and 5K) this Saturday, May 27! Wind your way around the lake on a combo of paved, gravel and dirt surfaces. Register online or at the lodge on Friday afternoon (4-8pm) or Saturday by 8:30am.
The following Saturday, June 3, the Color Me Fearless 5K will launch from Old Cutter’s Park in Hailey due to flooding in Heagle Park. Now in its 5th year, this fun colorful (think: costumes and paint stations) race is a great beginner course for kids and helps raise money for Girls on the Run of the Wood River Valley.
This year’s Sun Valley Half Marathon & 5K to benefit the Wood River Community YMCA is coming up on Sunday, June 4. Feeling ambitious? Race organizers have partnered with Girls on the Run to offer a special discounted rate for anyone wanting to participate in both weekend races. Go to RunSunValley.com for details.
On Saturday, June 10, redefine “fun” with the Adam’s Gulch Fun Run – a local fave! The 4.2-mile mixed-terrain course provides a perfect early summer challenge.
The Elephant’s Perch’s annual Backcountry Run is now being hosted by The Mill SV, a new private personal training and running studio! Described as a “grueling romp,” this year’s race is scheduled for Saturday, July 29. Choose between three distances – 16.5 miles, 10 miles or 6.2 miles (5K).
