Skin deep: Part I

Spring time is upon us and getting out and about is on everyone's mind as winter can cause serious hibernation. It's important to not only take care of your body inside and out but also the skin. As wonderful looking as a sun kissed glow can be, it's also important to take care of one's skin because the sun can do serious damage. So many of us spend a lot of time outdoors in the summer months as long as the day allows. Living in high desert climes can be detrimental on the epidermis. Dry air, constant sun and lack of moisture can lead to dry and flaky skin as well as cancerous skin issues from too much sun exposure over the years and not enough protection. Even an hour hike on Proctor can cause skin to shrivel up without good moisturizer and plenty of water.

As we age, taking care of one's skin is always important. Drinking lots of water and moisturizing is essential to keeping one's skin healthy and looking good. There are many factors in skin care. Healthy morning and night routines are important especially for warding off wrinkles and aging skin in general. Genetics does play a role in wrinkle free skin but using sunblock with moisturizing, wearing hats and donning those big lens shades are all preventive techniques that work. Skin does age and it will go south, it's a fact and we must deal with it.
